PRESS RELEASE (07/11/2024):

As a result of improvements in the City of Marlin’s present water crisis, Mayor Byrd has announced a temporary modification to Stage 4 of the Water Conservation and Drought Plan. The temporary modification concerns laundromats and car washes. Effective today and until further notice, laundromats may operate; however, their hours of operation are restricted from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Likewise, car washes may also operate but their hours of operation are restricted from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. All other Stage 4 Water Conservation and Drought Plan requirements, including but not limited to filling swimming pools and water yards, are to remain in place. City of Marlin residents are strongly encouraged to conserve water in every way feasible. Our Police Department has been charged with enforcing these Stage 4 water restrictions. If, for any reason, the water situation does not continue to improve, the modified restrictions will be terminated and full Stage 4 restrictions will be put back into effect. Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

Susan Byrd, Mayor
City of Marlin, Texas
