The City of Marlin provides healthful drinking water to the Marlin and surrounding area residents.
Our purpose is to provide a safe and healthy quality of life for our customers by enabling the skills and talents of our employees to: provide clean, safe drinking water; collect and safely treat wastewater; create and maintain a sustainable environment; maintain competitive user rates; and provide a superior level of customer service. We do this through the combined efforts of 20 diverse and dedicated water and administrative professionals that serve Marlin on a continuous basis, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year.
Our central role in the community is to provide fresh, clean drinking water. We process raw water from the City lakes and the Brazos River at our treatment facility, pump it through miles of water mains and deliver it to your tap daily. We encourage strong business practices and partnerships that strengthen Marlin economic growth and infrastructure viability.
The City of Marlin will soon be upgrading all customer water meters to a wireless network. The completed system will empower staff to track water usage, detect leaks, and see savings from conservation efforts. Installation shall begin in 2013.
The need for major infrastructure improvements was heightened by several water audits uncovering loss of water from the Water Treatment Plant and the number of gallons sold to customers. Although there has been many improvements made such as the New Water Treatment Facility, new water mains from the treatment plant and several new mains and service lines in town, it is important that the rest of the aging infrastructure be addressed to reduce the number of service interruptions.
